Dan is a passionate winemaker with experience from some of the top performing wineries in Hawke's Bay. Dan has been involved within the New Zealand wine industry from both a sales and a manufacturing aspect for 18 years.  Dan graduated from EIT with a degree in Wine Science in 2003.  While being runner up for Young Winemaker of the Year in 2002, he was succesful and won the title in 2003.

With Dan's reputation and moving forward with his own brand and unique style combined with his affection for producing low allengen environmentally friendly wines for his customers, Dan creates a unique experience valued by tour guides, retail and wholesale customers alike.

Kaylea Barker

Marketing & Export Sales, Owner

Kaylea has a strong passion for the wine industry and with her background in marketing and hospitality she manages our marketing and sales.

Kaylea's involvlement with Moana Park will also focus on Event Management both on and off-site.  With her strong skill sets in this department she can assist to make any event a success from graduations, weddings to social club events. No matter the size her attention to detail will make the function run smoothly.

James Wilkie (The Bishop)

Winemaker

Now with 5 vintages under his belt, and trying to get the Chardonnay through malo, having just moved into a new house and left holding the reigns of the winery while Dan is off selling and making wine in Canada, and with a new baby on the way, james is really easy to spot, he is the one with bags under his eyes. James has been part of the winemaking team at the award winning winery Moana Park for 5 years. Valedictorian for his year at EIT where he studied Wine Science, James is a passionate hands on winemaker, with a penchant  for Viognier where Moana Park just won top Viognier in World at the World Wine Awards against 14,000 wines. 

Greg Allinson

Brand Development Manager - Assistant Winemaker

Greg Joined the Moana Park team in November of 2009 as assistant winemaker, which of course we all knows means real do the hard work winemaker, after completing a course at EIT in Grape and Wine Production. Greg joins us from Moet & Hennessey UK. Greg manages our Sauvignon Blanc Programme, and we all look forward to the release of the new Fume Blanc. For staff training on or off premise Greg is your man, we do recommend however if you lend him a vehicle you tell him whether it is Diesel or Petrol, or disaster is sure to strike. Now coming into his second vintage for us here at moana greg is starting to flex his winemaking muscles a little more.

Mat Frear

Mat Joined Moana Park Winery in December 09. Mat joins us from DB Breweries, and after more than a decade managing Restaurants and Bars around New Zealand. Mat also leads our "research tasting team" as he likes to prove how well our wines stack up agaist everybody elses. He drives over 120,000 k's a year, all mostly under the spead limit, coz the limit is 105 right? and Mat loves cauliflour in his cheese toasties.
